The purpose of the Tanana Valley State Fair Association is to advance the agricultural, industrial, and educational interests of the citizens of Alaska by holding annual fairs in Fairbanks, Alaska. The Association is governed by a nine-member board of Directors elected for three-year terms. The election takes place at the annual meeting, and will be announced. Membership is open to any individual or business within 150 mile radius of the Tanana Valley State Fairgrounds.
- Youth membership (age 12-17): $10.00 annually - not entitled to vote.
- Individual membership: $25.00 annually - entitled to one vote.
- Business membership: $100.00 annually - entitled to one vote.
The following is required to be a member. A member who has reached his/her 18th birthday is eligible to run for director in the year for which the membership is purchased. Individuals planning on running for the Board of Directors must be a member of the Association in good standing, and must maintain residency within a 150-mile radius of the Tanana Valley State Fairgrounds. Candidates must submit their intention in writing, along with a brief bio, a minimum of 30 days prior to the annual meeting. Candidate submissions must be turned in to the Executive Director of the Tanana Valley State Fair, and forwarded by the Association to the membership 14 days prior to the annual meeting.
Membership is good for one calendar year starting January 1 and ending December 31.
Memberships must be received at the Tanana Valley State Fair office 30 days prior to the annual meeting in order to be eligible to vote at the annual meeting. No person or business shall be entitled to more than one membership or more than one vote.
